Return & Refund Policy

1. Overview

At Maison Meszarics, we want you to be fully satisfied with your purchase. This policy explains your rights to return items and request a refund. It applies to all customers within the European Union and the European Economic Area, in compliance with EU Directive 2011/83/EU on consumer rights and applicable Dutch law.

Nothing in this policy limits your statutory rights as a consumer.

2. Your 14-Day Right of Withdrawal (EU)

Under EU consumer law, you have the right to withdraw from your purchase within 14 calendar days of receiving your item, for any reason and without providing justification.

To exercise this right, you must inform us of your decision by sending a clear statement to maisonmeszarics@gmail.com before the 14-day period expires. You may use the model withdrawal form available upon request, but it is not mandatory.

After notifying us, you have an additional 14 days to return the item.

3. Extended 30-Day Return Window

In addition to your statutory 14-day right of withdrawal, we offer an extended commercial return window of 30 days from the date you receive your order. This extended window is a voluntary courtesy and is subject to the conditions listed below.

4. Conditions for Return

To be eligible for a return, items must meet all of the following conditions:

  • Returned in the same condition as received
  • Unworn, unused, and undamaged
  • With all original tags attached
  • In their original, undamaged packaging
  • Accompanied by the receipt or proof of purchase

Items that do not meet these conditions may be refused or subject to a reduction in the refund amount, in accordance with Article 14(2) of EU Directive 2011/83/EU, which permits deductions for diminished value resulting from handling beyond what is necessary to establish the nature, characteristics, and functioning of the goods.

5. How to Start a Return

  1. Contact us at maisonmeszarics@gmail.com with your order number and reason for return.
  2. Wait for our confirmation email, which will include the return address and detailed instructions.
  3. Ship the item to the address provided within the applicable time frame.

Important: Do not send items back without first contacting us. Returns sent without prior authorization will not be accepted and cannot be processed.

6. Return Shipping Costs

The customer is responsible for the cost of return shipping, including in the case of withdrawal under the 14-day EU cooling-off period, as permitted by Article 14(1) of EU Directive 2011/83/EU.

We recommend using a tracked shipping service, as we cannot be held responsible for items lost or damaged during return transit.

Exception: If the item is defective, damaged on arrival, or incorrect, we will cover all return shipping costs (see Section 8).

7. Non-Returnable Items

The following items are excluded from both the 14-day right of withdrawal and our 30-day return policy, in accordance with Article 16 of EU Directive 2011/83/EU:

  • Custom-made or personalized items
  • Sealed personal care or beauty products that have been unsealed after delivery for hygiene reasons
  • Perishable goods (food, flowers, plants)
  • Hazardous materials, flammable liquids, and gases
  • Sale items and items purchased with promotional discounts (where stated at the time of purchase)
  • Gift cards

If you are unsure whether your item is returnable, please contact us before purchasing or initiating a return.

8. Damaged, Defective, or Incorrect Items

Please inspect your order upon delivery. If your item arrives defective, damaged, or incorrect, contact us within 48 hours of receipt at maisonmeszarics@gmail.com with:

  • Your order number
  • A description of the issue
  • Photos clearly showing the damage or defect

We will assess the issue and offer one of the following remedies, in line with your statutory rights under EU consumer law and the Dutch Civil Code (Burgerlijk Wetboek):

  • A replacement item
  • A repair (where applicable)
  • A full refund, including original and return shipping costs

9. Exchanges

We do not process direct exchanges. The fastest way to receive a different item is to return your original order and place a new purchase once the return is approved.

10. Refunds

Once we receive and inspect your return, we will notify you by email of the approval or rejection of your refund.

If approved:

  • Refunds are issued to your original payment method within 10 business days of approval.
  • The refund will include the price paid for the item and, in the case of withdrawal under Section 2, the standard delivery cost. Any supplementary delivery costs (e.g., express shipping) are non-refundable.
  • Please note that your bank or payment provider may require additional processing time before the funds appear in your account.

If 15 business days have passed since we confirmed your refund and you have not received it, please contact us at maisonmeszarics@gmail.com.
